Low reproducibility of data, intransparency on the process of how initial hypotheses are translated to scientific findings, and even fraudulent manipulation of data are symptoms of the current academic culture that is driven by the pressure to publish more, faster, and more spectacular data.

Open Science is a holistic approach to improve the quality standards of research with a publication culture governed by transparency and accessibility of data.
